AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) was one of the most difficult entrance exams. Yes! “WAS” There is no more AIEEE. Confused? Well, don’t be. AIEEE is now replaced by JEE mains.
An engineering aspirant who wishes to study in the top engineering institutes like NIT and IITs will have to write a few entrance exams. In this case there are two entrance exams – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Only the candidates who pass the JEE Main can write the JEE Advanced.
JEE- Main
JEE Main will have questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with equal weightage. The syllabus is similar to AIEEE and the questions will be from CBSE 11th and 12th portions majorly. The questions are of objective types. Each correct answer will be awarded with 4 marks and for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted. The offline and online JEE- Main exams will be conducted on April 7th and April 8th of this year, respectively.
JEE- Advanced
Only the top 1.5 lakh student who have passed the JEE- Main can write the JEE- Advanced. JEE- Advanced consists of two papers. Both the papers will have objective questions from mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The mark given to the right and the wrong answers are the same as in JEE- Main. JEE- Advanced will be conducted on June 2nd of this year.

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1986 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Handica pped (PH) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PH candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1981 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be taken as authentic.
