If you have a PhD from any higher education Institute in the Top 500 List of the World, you will not need to pass the National Eligibility Test (NET) of the UGC or CSIR to become an assistant professor. On the basis of your PhD you will be eligible for this post. For recruitment of teachers and non-academic staff in higher education institutions, the UGC is making new rules related to minimum qualification. This provision has been made in this rule. According to the draft rules of UGC, this rule will be applicable in direct recruitment of assistant professors in the fields of Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Education, Law, Social Science, Science, Language, Library Science, Journalism and Mass Communication. In the ranking of academic rankings and academic ranking of World Universities in the ranking of world famous educational institutes and universities, PhD students from any institute who have been ranked in the top 500 will get the benefit.

According to the current rules, students who have made PhD from any institute have to pass UGC or CSIR eligibility test to teach as a teacher in Indian Universities and Degree Colleges.
The UGC will discuss these draft rules with the relevant parties. If there are no major changes, it will be implemented before the new academic session.
