Revised SSC CGL 2017 Age Limit increased by 3 years
Online registration for CGL 2017 has already begun at ssconline.nic.in. The last date for submission of applications is 16 June 2017 for the Tier 1 exam scheduled for 1-20 August 2017. The Commission has recently released a corrigendum stating changes in age limit of certain posts.
The official notification reads about increase in age limit for posts with code K, L, M and P.
This includes Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner) under CBEC and Inspector post under Department of Post.
The Commission has changed the upper age limit to 30 years for these posts. While for all jobs with codes K, L and M the age limit should be read as ‘not exceeding 30 years’, for Inspector post (Department of Post) the age limit can be read as ’18-30 years.’ Previously, in the SSC CGL 2017 notification, the Commission has stated the age limit for all of these posts as ’18-27 years.
Most of the posts for which the Age limit is increased are Group B posts having Grade Pay of Rs 4200 , Rs 4600, and Rs 4800. SSC CGL 2017 New Syllabus Analysis .

Official Age Limit for SSC CGL 2017 Exam Registration – Revised!
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has recently released a notification for Combined Graduate Level (CGL) aspirants 2017. The SSC has decided a revised date for reckoning of age calculation of candidates, which is 01.08.2017. This article will explain to you the Official Age Limit for SSC CGL 2017 and thesignificance of this new age-calculation date.
New Age Calculation Date Announced by SSC for CGL 2017
A recent SSC CGL 2017 Notification on the SSC website says, “The crucial date for reckoning of age calculation for CGLE 2017 would be 01.08.2017 and no change in this date would be made.”
This new date provided by the Staff Selection Commission will be used for calculating eligibility in terms of Age and Educational Qualifications. Therfore, for SSC CGL 2017 Registration, you will have to arrive at your valid eligibilty by taking the date 1.08.2017 into consideration.

Revised Age Limit for SSC CGL 2017 Exam Registration
#1. Age limit for SSC CGL 2017 will be reckoned as on 1st August, 2017:
(i) For Post for which age limit is 20-27 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1990 & not later than 01.08.1997
(ii) For Post for which age limit is 18-27 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1990 & not later than 01.08.1999
(iii) For Post for which age limit is 18-25 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1992 & not later than 01.08.1999
(iv) For Post for which age limit is 21-27 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1990 & not later than 01.08.1996
(v) For Post for which age limit is 20-30 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1987 & not later than 01.08.1997
(vi) For Post for which age limit is upto 30 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1987 & not later than 01.08.1999
(vii) For Post for which age limit is upto 32 years – Born not earlier than 02.08.1985 & not later than 01.08.1999
#2. Age Relaxation for SSC CGL 2017
- SC/ST → 5 years
- OBC → 3 years
- PH → 10 years
- PH + OBC → 13 years
- PH + SC/ST → 15 years
- Ex-servicemen (Gen) → 3 years
- Ex-servicemnen (SC/ST) → 6 years
- Ex-servicemnen (OBC) → 8 years
According to the Detailed Schedule released by the commission earlier this year, the SSC CGL 2017 Registration will take place from March 2017 and will go on until 15th, April 2017. The SSC CGL Tier I exam is scheduled to be conducted from 1st August 2017 to 20th August 2017.
+3 Years Age relaxation in SSC
- Earlier, in SSC-CGL exam, the age limit for general category was 27 years.
- Now for selected post, Government has increased it to 30 years. (and subsequently, OBC, SC, ST age limits also raised by threesince their formula is tied with the age limit of general category.)
- Age will be counted on 1 Aug 2017 for CGL exam 2017.
