CAT 2018 Notification – Check Exam Dates, Eligibility, Pattern, Application etc…
CAT 2018 will be held on November 25, 2018. IIMs have announced the IIM CAT exam date on their official website. “CAT 2018 will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Detailed notification for CAT 2018 may be released in July / August 2018,” says the IIM CAT official website.
IIM Calcutta will convene the CAT 2018 exam. During the past six years this is the first time that IIM Calcutta will be conducting Common Admission Test (CAT). MBAUniverse.com had predicted that IIM Calcutta could be assigned the responsibility of CAT 2018 convening IIM.
In previous years this date was announced only in July/August when the Official Notification for IIMCAT was released. Early announcement will help MBA aspirants to plan their preparation in advance. One of the six older IIMs is given the responsibility of IIMCAT exam convener.
Like in past few years, CAT 2018 MBA entrance exam will be a single day two sessions test on November 25, 2018.
Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 is the computer based and is the largest MBA entrance exam in India for admission in 2019 to 20 IIMs, FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, JBIMS, IMI, IMT, NITIE, MBA programmes at IITs and hundreds of other top MBA colleges in India.
CAT 2018 will be conducted by IIM Calcutta on Sunday November 25, 2018 in two sessions and will be a three hours duration exam with 100 questions.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 is the major and most popular MBA entrance exam for admission in 20 IIMs and over 100 B-schools across India. IIMs conduct CAT on a rotational basis every year. CAT undergoes major changes or introduction of new elements almost each year. CAT 2018 notification will be released in the last week of July.
The CAT 2018 registration process is scheduled to commence from the second week of August 2018. Around two lakh candidates apply and appear for the computer-based test every year. CAT 2018 score card will be valid only for one year until December 31, 2019. Around 4,000 seats are offered through the 20 IIMs. This article brings to you the detailed information on CAT 2018 regarding the notification, important dates, eligibility criteria, registration process, application form, exam pattern, result, cutoff, etc.
CAT Exam was held in 15 to 20 days testing window till 2013 by IIMs. However, since 2014, CAT exam testing window has been shortened to one day only. Accordingly, CAT 2018 MBA entrance exam will also be held in single day two sessions.
CAT 2018 Notification will be released by the IIMs in the last week of July 2018 in all the leading news papers simultaneously. CAT 2018 convening IIM will also release the CAT 2018 notification and CAT advertisement to online websites a day before it is published in news papers.
Immediately after release of CAT 2018 notification by IIMs, the CAT registration and application process will begin in about a week’s time preferably in the first week of August, 2018.
If you have completed Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks or completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA), or are in the final year of Bachelor’s degree you can appear in CAT 2018 exam. There is no Age bar to apply and appear for CAT 2018 exam.
CAT Registration 2018
- Candidates will register for this exam via online mode through the website.
- CAT Application Form 2018 will be released from the second week of August 2018.
- Last date for registration will be till third week of September 2018.
- Go through the official website of CAT (link will be given above).
- Enter your registration details and register yourself.
- A User ID and Password will be generated after registration.
- Fill all the required details like personal, academic, programmes & other relevant details.
- Upload the scanned images of photograph, signature & other required documents.
- The correction facility in CAT Application Form will be provided in the 4th week of September 2018.
- Candidates are required to pay the application fee through online mode only.
- Don’t forget to take printout of the application form for further use.
Eligibility Criteria
The detailed eligibility criteria to apply for CAT 2018 exam is given here:
- Qualification: Students must have a bachelor’s degree in any stream from any recognized college or university.
- Percentage Criteria: In the qualifying exam, students must have secured minimum 50% marks for general and 45% marks in case of SC, ST and PwD candidates.
- Appearing Candidates: Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying exam or who have completed the degree requirements and waiting for the result are also eligible to apply.
- Other Qualification: CA/CS/ICWA professional degree holders are also eligible to apply.
CAT Exam Pattern
Candidates can check the CAT exam pattern from below:
- Exam Mode: This exam will be organized on digital or Computer Based Test (CBT).
- Exam Duration: The total exam duration will be 180 minutes. Sixty minutes duration has been allotted to complete each section.
- Type of Question: The questions will be multiple choice type and subjective type.
- No. of Question: The question paper will comprise of total 100 questions.
- Marking Scheme: Three marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
- Negative Marking: For multiple choice questions, one mark will be deducted for a wrong answer and for questions other than MCQs no marks will be deducted.
