GATE 2018 application submission last date has been extended to October 9, Monday. A notification published on the official website of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2018 exam has said that, in response to the request received for the extension of the closing date for application submission, it has been extended to 20:00 Hrs (IST) of October 9, 2017 (Monday). GATE 2018 examination is scheduled to be held on February, 3, 4, 10 and 11 next year and according to the schedule published by IIT Guwahati – the official organiser of the exam -, the results will be published in March 2018.
“In response to the request received for the extension of the closing date for application submission, it has been extended to 20:00 Hrs (IST) of 9th October 2017 (Monday),” said the notification from the organisors.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2018 conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT G) under the chairmanship of Prof G Pugazhenthi in February next year and the application process will start from September 1st, 2017.
The online applications for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2018 will be out on September 1. Candidates can apply online latest by October 5.
GATE is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and technology.
The exam is conducted for admissions to post-graduate programmes (e.g., ME, MTech, direct PhD) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other government agencies. The scores may also be used by public and private sector.
In GATE 2017, more than 9 lakh aspirants had applied for the exam. Last year the qualification percentage was a mere 16%. The number was not an improvement from 2015 when only 15% candidates qualified.
In the past, several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have also used GATE scores to shortlist the candidates for employment.

1. New Section in GATE 2018 Exam:
A new section has been introduced in the engineering sciences (XE) paper. This section is the Atmospheric and Oceanic sciences (Section H). GATE 2018 XE paper will now have eight sections from A to H.
2. GATE 2018 International:
International students will now be able to apply for GATE 2018. Students from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) will be allowed to appear for GATE 2018.
3. Application Process:
- Candidates can choose the GATE 2018 Exam Centre second choice in any city in India, unlike the previous years where it was restricted to be in the same zone as a first choice city.
- The Thumb impression of candidates needs to be uploaded during the application procedure.
- (Candidates who have completed the qualifying degree in 2016 or earlier, need to upload scanned image of degree completion certificate or final year/semester mark sheet.
However, candidates studying in the final year of their qualifying degree (completing in 2018 or later) need to upload the scanned image of third year (fifth/sixth semester) mark sheet, as proof of eligibility criterion. GATE 2018 Online Application
The online applications process for enrollment, application filling and submission will start from September 1, 2017 on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) Website

GATE 2018 Online Fee
The GATE 2018 fee can be paid online or via e-challan. The online application fee for GATE 2018 differs according to the following categories
- Men: General Category/OBC Rs 1,500
- Women: Any Category Rs 750
- SC/ST/PwD Rs. 750
- International Candidates $50
GATE 2018 POSTER (NOTICE) PUBLISHED, APPLICATION FEE HAS SOME CHANGES
Two days after launching official website, IIT Guwahati has now revealed GATE 2018 poster. Notice in poster form is a short advertisement. It contains one liner details on key points of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Such as it conveys what GATE 2018 is about, its dates, eligibility. Also it shows application form of GATE 2018 information with fees, centers, and how to reach GOAPS.
Major revelation in poster notice happens to be application which was hitherto unknown through official website. As per notification, application fee is Rs 750 for females, same for SC/ST/PWD. Other candidates who opt for centers in India will pay Rs 1500. If center is being opted outside India then application fee is USD 100. Here it should be noted that last time fee for centers outside India was USD 50.
Other details in notice are same as what has already been seen in GATE 2018 IIT Guwahati official website. Dates of examination are 03rd, 04th, 10th, 11th February 2018. Application starting date os 01st September 2017 and ending date is 05th October 2017. Examination will be held in cities in India as well as abroad. Cities abroad where Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2018 will take place are Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), and Singapore. Application fee payment for GATE 2018 is a one time, non-refundable process. Concession in fee for women, reserved category candidates is done by IITs and other exam conducting bodies to encourage participation. In case of international candidates, need for PWD certificate or category certificate is not applicable.
Eligibility criteria for GATE 2018:
BE/BTech/BPharm: Bachelor’s degree in engineering/ technology (Four years after 10+2 or three years after BSc/diploma in engineering/technology) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
BArch: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Five years course)
BSc (Research)/BS: Bachelor’s degree in Science (Post-Diploma/ 4 years after 10+2)
MSc/MA/MCA or equivalent: Master’s degree in any branch of science/mathematics/statistics/computer applications or equivalent
Int. ME/MTech (Post-BSc): Post-BSc Integrated Master’s degree programmes in engineering/technology (Four year programme)
Int. ME/MTech or dual degree (after diploma or 10+2): Integrated Master’s degree programme or dual degree programme in engineering / technology (Five year programme)
Int. MSc/Int BS-MS: Integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B. S./ M. S. Programme
Professional Society Examination (equivalent to B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch.): BE/BTech/BArch equivalent examinations of professional societies, recognised by MHRD/ UPSC/ AICTE (e.g., AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India)
