IIT Bombay has released the notification for Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) 2018. Check detailed notification at jam.iitb.ac.in . The online registrations for the same will begin on September 5 and will continue till October 10.

How to apply for IIT JAM 2018:
In order to apply for the same, all the candidates need to follow the below mentioned steps:
- Go to the official website, joaps.iitb.ac.in
- Log on with your enrollment number and password
- Enter all the required details in the space provided
- Complete the payment process
- Click to submit
IIT JAM 2018 notification released. The Joint Admission Test 2018 exam dates and other details are given clearly in the notification. The objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at the IISc Bangalore and IITs based on the performance in a single test and to consolidate Science as a career option for bright students from across the country.
The M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at these Institutes offer high quality education in their respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world. The curricula for these programmes are designed to provide the students with opportunities to develop academic talent leading to challenging and rewarding professional life. The curricula are regularly updated at each Institutes. The interdisciplinary content of the curricula equips the students with the ability to utilize scientific knowledge for practical applications. The medium of instruction in all the programmes is English.
JAM (Joint Admission) applications are available in online in JAM official website. So candidates who are interested can register from 5th September through online application process. JAM 2018 exam will be held in two shifts. The first shift will start at 9 am in the morning and comprises of Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematical Statistics (MS). The second shift will start at 2 pm at afternoon and comprises of Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH).
In order to be eligible, students from general, OBC and foreign category must have an aggregate score of 55% while those from the SC/ST and PwD categories must have an aggregate score of 50% in the qualifying exam.
For candidates will lettered grades or CGPA scores, percentage equivalence will be determined by the admitting institute.
Qualifying the JAM is essential to apply to the programmes associated with the test at the participating institutions. After the results are declared, candidates must apply online from 3 to 17 April 2018 using the form available on the JAM website.
IIT JAM 2018 Examination Schedule:
The IIT JAM 2018 will be held in two shifts:
First phase: The first phase will comprise of Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematical Statistics (MS). The exam will be held from 9 am to 12 noon.
Second phase: This phase will comprise Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH) and will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Candidates can apply for JAM 2018 only through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS), the link for which is jam.iitb.ac.in
“A candidate can apply for either one or two out of the seven JAM test papers subject to the restriction imposed by the Test Schedule given in the Information Brochure or JAM 2018 website. The choice of the appropriate test paper(s) is the responsibility of the candidate,” the official IIT JAM 2018 website states.

- Candidates have to make the fee payment through online mode only.
- The fee payment will be made through debit/credit card or net banking.

Now let’s come back to the process of filling IIT JAM Online Application Form 2018. Read the step by step procedure cautiously as explained below: –
STEP 1 – Know the Important Data Needed While Applying
You should be aware regarding the documents to be kept ready before applying for IIT JAM Online. It will help you in avoiding mistakes while filling important details in application form. See the list of important documents below:
Your complete personal details like Name, Mobile Number, E-mail address, Date of Birth, Parent’s Name, and mobile number.
- Your complete address with PIN code.
- Details of your educational qualification including Name, Percentage, College, or University etc.
JAM Test Papers you wish to appear for.
- Alternatives of IIT JAM 2018 JAM Exam Centres (Minimum Three).
- Your Photograph and Signature bearing the definite format.
- Scanned copy of your SC/ST/PwD certificates (if any) in pdf format.
- Your photo identity proofe. Aadhar Card/ Driving License/ College ID/ Employee ID/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Passport etc.
- Details of mode of paymente. Net Banking Details/ Credit or Debit Card Details.
STEP 2 – Register through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS)
Candidate, who are aspiring to enter the JAM 2018 admission process, must apply only through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). The link is available at the official website (http://jam.iitd.ac.in).
The link for the registration at JOAPS for JAM EXAM 2018 will get activated by 5th September 2017. To register at JOAPS, follow the guidelines given below:
You have to start your registration as a new user by clicking on “New User? Register Here”. The registration page will open.
You should enter you correct name, e-mail address and mobile number as per the instructions provided there.
The mobile number and e-mail id will be used for further communication, so make sure they are valid and not used by anyone else.
One e-mail id will be used only for one registration.
You will be asked to generate a password. Enter a good password that you can remember easily and submit the form. (You will need the password for further processing, so kindly keep it safe by noting down.)
Now you will get a confirmation message and your Enrolment ID will be sent to you as an e-mail and an SMS. You must keep this Enrolment ID for every important communication related to IIT JAM 2018 Exam.
STEP 3 – Fill the Detailed IIT JAM Application Form
As you are registered on the JOAPS now, you should log in for completing the IIT JAM online application process. Follow the guidelines below:
Enter your IIT JAM login credentials (Enrolment ID and Password) and submit the form. Enter the password carefully as it is case sensitive.
A welcome screen will open showing Application Status. Click on “Edit Application Form” and start filling the following: –
Fill Your IIT JAM 2018 Exam Details
The number of test papers you want to appear for in JAM 2018.
The subject name of the paper you wish to appear in JAM 2018.
Choice of Examination City 1, Examination City 2, and Examination City 3.
Fill Your Personal Details
Your accurate date of birth and gender as mentioned in your marksheets.
Name and mobile number of your parents or guardian.
Your nationality and category (GEN/ OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST).
Fill Your Communication Details
Your correspondence address with PIN code.
Your ID Proof and ID Proof Number.
Fill Your Qualifying Degree Details
Your qualifying degree and discipline.
Year of passing.
Name and Address of your college or university.
STEP 4 – Upload the Scanned Images /Documents
The JAM 2018 online application process is partial without uploading of scanned images and documents. You should upload the documents as per specifications set by officials.
You should upload your high quality scanned photograph as per the prescribed format.
You should upload the high quality scanned images of your signature as per the prescribed format.
You should upload your thumb impression as per the prescribed format.
You should upload your high quality scanned images for SC/ST/PwD certificates as per the prescribed format (JPEG/PDF).
OBC-NCL candidates are not required to upload their category certificate as they will submit it later as Appendix-V.
As you have filled all the necessary information in the IIT JAM Online Application form. Kindly check the details you have entered to avoid any mistakes.
If you have checked and verified every information, kindly accept the declaration [tick mark in the check box], and click on Proceed to Payment button as given below there.
A pop-up message will appear on the screen asking you for confirmation to final submission. Click on Continue.
STEP 5 – Making Online Application Fee Payment for IIT JAM 2018 Exam
The online application procedure is incomplete if you have not made payment of application fee.
As per the rules set by the organizing body, the payment of fee is acceptable only by online mode. You may use your net banking account, debit, or credit cards for making fee payment. See the payment procedure as below:
You Name, Enrolment ID and Application Fee Amount will be shown there. The amount of application fee is based on the category you choose while filling your personal details.
Click on Proceed to Payment.
Now, you should choose an appropriate payment option under Multi Option Payment System (MOPS) i.e. Net Banking, Card Payments, or Other Payment Modes.
You will be shown option for banks and their charges. Choose as per your preference.
Now, make payment of IIT JAM Application fees. You will get a confirmation message on the computer screen.
After successful payment of fees, you will be redirected to the IIT JAM Online Application website and a Fee Payment Number will be generated.
You should save the Fee Payment Number for further official use.
Important Note – If you are not sure about your fee payment status because of any specific reason (weak internet connection or power failure) kindly login again with the help of IIT JAM Candidate Login credentials to JOAPS and look for your payment status.
If the status shown “Fee Pending or Not paid”, please go for a new payment at JOAPS fee payment portal and follow the complete payment procedure again.
STEP 6 – Download / Print IIT JAM 2018 Application Form
After the successful fee payment, you must download the hardcopy of the IIT JAM application form. See below the procedure to download the application form:
You will see two option there; one is for adding an addition paper and second one is for Downloading the application form.
If you want to add more paper, you can click on Add Paper.
To download the IIT JAM Application Form 2018, click on the Download.
Take the hard copy of the downloaded application form.
Provision to Make Minor Modifications in JAM 2018 Applications
IIT JAM aspirants are also allowed to make minor and important corrections in their online application forms for IIT JAM 2018 after the application filling process is over.
You should send an email to the authority within the given time limit from you IIT JAM 2018 registered email id along with the relevant documents. The email should be subjected as “Correction in data (enrollment number)”.
The corrections in the Application form are permitted for the following details:
- Candidate’s Name (only minor spelling with document proof)
- Date of Birth (minor change in date/ month/ year with document proof)
- Parent/Guardian’s Name (only minor spelling with document proof)
- Category (with document proof)
Note: The dates for correction in IIT JAM 2018 Application Form will be announced by the officials on their website after the application process will over.

IIT JAM 2018 Eligibility Criteria
Students are suggested to check the eligibility criteria before applying. The detailed eligibility criteria is mentioned below:
- Nationality: Indian & Foreign candidates are eligible to apply.
- Qualifying Exam: Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in any stream from any recognized college or university.
- Percentage Criteria: Students must have obtained minimum 55% marks for general & OBC-NCL candidates and 50% marks for SC, ST and PwD categories.
- Appearing Candidates: Students appearing in the final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
IIT JAM 2018 Exam Pattern

- Exam Mode: The exam will be organized through online mode (Computer Based Test).
- Duration: The total exam duration will be three hours.
- Language: Question paper will be asked in English language only.
