JEE Advanced 2016: How to Register?
JEE Advanced 2016 is the second step to the JEE Main 2016 will be conducted by seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB). The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to various bachelor’s degree programs in eighteen IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM), along with other reputed engineering institutes. This national level engineering entrance exam is the second stage of JEE. It will be held only for top 2 lakh rank holders of JEE Main in 2016. A candidate can attempt this exam a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.

JEE Advanced 2016 will be held on May 22nd, 2016 for which online registration and filling of application form will commence from April 29 and will close on May 4. Application Form will be available on official website www.jeeadv.ac.in

JEE Advanced 2016 Eligibility Criteria
- The top 2 lakh candidates of JEE Main will be eligible for appearing the JEE Advanced 2016 exams.
- The candidates must be born after 1st October 1991 for General and OBC – Non Creamy layer. For SC, ST and handicapped categories the candidates must be born before 1st October 1996.
- The candidates can avail the JEE Advanced in two consecutive years after cracking the JEE Main.
- The JEE Advanced appearing candidates must have passed the 12th or equivalent exam in the year 2015 or 2016 in one attempt.
- Candidates who have passed 12th or equivalent exam for the first time in 2014 or earlier are not eligible to apply.
- Students whose class 12th or equivalent results for the academic year 2013-14 were declared after June 2014 are eligible to apply.
- Candidates whose admission in IITs or ISM was cancelled are also not eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have secured 75% aggregate marks (for general candidate) and 75% aggregate marks (for reserved category).
- Candidates should come within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in the 12th or equivalent exam.
- If candidates have appeared in the 12th or equivalent examination for the first time in 2015 and wish to (or has to) reappear in 2016, should reappear in all the subjects.
JEE Advanced 2016 Application Form:
Candidates will be able to fill the Application Form to appear in JEE Advanced 2016 from April 29, 2016. They need to register online for appearing in the exam. Only those candidates can fill the application form whose scores are equal or above the JEE Main Cutoff marks specified for JEE Advanced. Also, they are required to satisfy the specified eligibility criteria before registering online.

JEE Advanced 2016 Seat Reservation
The reservation of seats for different categories is mentioned below:
- OBC (NCL) – 27%
- Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15 %
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5 %
- Persons with Disability (PwD) – 3 % seats in each of OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC and ST category seats
- Defence Service (DS) – 2 %
- Foreign nationals – 10 %
JEE Advanced 2016 Syllabus:
Syllabus of the entrance exam will be prescribed by the conducting IIT. It will cover topics from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with which question paper will be prepared. Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced shall prepare these predetermined subject-wise topics thoroughly in order to secure a good score.

JEE Advanced 2016 Exam Pattern:
The paper pattern of this national level engineering entrance exam is not fixed and it may year by the conducting IIT. However, there are a total of 2 papers (paper 1 & 2) and candidates have to appear for both. The question paper consists of three separate sections viz., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It is available in two languages- English and Hindi. Candidates have to attempt objective type (multiple choice) and numerical answer type questions that are designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. Some sections carry negative marking also.
