Lately, on the direction of the Human Resource Development (HRD), it was reported that NTA will now conduct the national level JEE Main and eventually JEE Advance examination twice in a year from 2018-19. This will be entirely an online examination along with all the formalities of the application process, to submission of fee, downloading of admit card and announcement of results. It is also hinted that after taking over the responsibility of conducting JEE from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), NTA is now planning to bring in some fundamental changes in the examination format. Earlier, JEE was conducted just after the board examinations of class 12 in the month of April and May, giving less time to the candidates to prepare for the national level test. Hence, many candidates had to drop a year after passing out from class 12.
Now NTA’s twice in a year JEE will overcome this problem of the candidates giving them more time to prepare well for the test without dropping a year. Rest of the changes in the JEE exam pattern is soon expected to be out in the first quarter of 2018.

Candidates are refrained from providing their details of the Class 12th roll numbers and marks to the authorities of the JEE Mains 2018 online.

Since, no weightage to the marks obtained by the candidates in the CBSE Class 12th board exams 2018 has been assigned by the board in the calculation of the ranks secured by the aspirant in the JEE Mains 2018 exam, the verification of the roll number has also been cancelled by the authorities.
However, the aspirants shall have to produce the mark sheets of Class 12th either in the CBSE board exam or the improvement exam during the counselling or admission process into the engineering colleges to ensure their eligibility for a smooth process. Candidates shall have to show the Class 12th CBSE marksheets at the reporting centres at the time of counselling while gaining admission into prestigious engineering colleges of repute like IITs/NITs/IIITs etc.
