MANF Scholarship 2019: Minority Scholarship criteria revised by UGC, Check details
It is in fact after a two year interval that UGC has invited applications for the award of 1000 fellowships (an increase from 756) under the MANF scheme.
Announcement regarding fellowship for minority students in MPhil / Ph.D degree was released on December 17, 2018 by UGC. The selection criteria has been revised to include all candidates enrolled for the MPhil or PhD courses in Indian Universities. The notification is available on ugc.ac.in. The last date to apply for the Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) is December 31.
The MANF Scholarship would now be awarded to 1000 candidates as against the previous 756 candidates. Interested candidates are required to fill the online application forms available on ugc.ac.in/ugc-schemes.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited all the interested, eligible candidates for the Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) for minority students for the year 2018-19.
Changes in Minority Scholarship Criteria:
As per the latest circular, the UGC has now allowed all the candidates belonging to one of the minority communities who are enrolled for full time research programmes with UGC NET or CSIR-NET to apply for the scholarships.
“All candidates who belong to one of the minority communities i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian and Jain and who are enrolled for full time MPhil / Ph.D degree in Indian Universities/ Institutions/ Colleges recognized under Section 2(f) and Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 and CBSE/NTA-UGC-NET/JRF or CSIR-NET/JRF may apply,” said the latest notice issued by UGC.
Note: “Decision of the Commission with regard to selection of candidates for the award of fellowship shall be final,” it added.

Fellowship for minority communities
This scheme is for communities like Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, and Christian.
These communities can pursue higher studies such as regular and full-time research degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering and Technology.
About the MANF fellowship:
MANF is a financial assistance to candidates of minority communities to pursue MPhil and PhD. The fellowship holders under this fellowship will be known as ‘Ministry of Minority Affairs scholars.’ Further, 3 per cent fellowships are reserved for physically handicapped candidates belonging to minority communities as per provision laid down by the Government of India.
