NEET 2017: Online counselling for UG admissions in Punjab to begin on July 17
Online counselling for students looking to join the medical and dental colleges for undergraduate (UG) courses will begin on July 17.
Three days after the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) results, were declared, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences released the admission schedule on Monday.
NEET scores are the basis for college admissions.
Students will be applying for 975 bachelors of medicine and bachelor of surgery (MBBS) seats in seven medical colleges and 1,030 bachelors of dental surgery (BDS) seats in 13 dental colleges across Punjab.
July 11 as deadline for online applications
If a student has qualified the NEET UG-2017, he or she will need to visit www.bfuhs.ac.in by July 11 to apply for admissions online. The application cannot be via post or in person.
Students have to deposit Rs 5,000 (Rs2,500 for scheduled caste candidates) in the university account in any branch of the Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) or State Bank of India (SBI) through a challan form that will `be generated on successful filling of the online application.
On July 16, the list of provisional candidates will be displayed.
NRI seat reservation
August 1 is the last date for form submission for non-resident-Indian (NRI) candidates.
About 15% seats have been reserved for NRIs in all private institutes and Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot. Also, 13 seats each have been reserved in Government Medical College, Patiala and Amritsar, along with three seats in Government Dental College, Amritsar, and four in Patiala.

Eligibility Criteria
Only those candidates who qualified in NEET 2017 will be alloted seats in medical colleges in punjab. The allotment of seats to different colleges will be purely based on NEET score of the candidate. Along with a good NEET score the candidate should also qualify the following eligibility criteria :
- Candidates seeking admission to mbbs/bds course must have completed his 17th year of age on the date of admission.
- Candidate must not have crossed his 25th year of age at the time of admission.

Submission of online applications
The candidates who have qualified the NEET 2017 can submit their application for admissions online by 11th of july.
Application fee
After filling in of online application forms, a challan will be generated for depositing the application fee. The students should submit the application fee in university account against the challan so generated. ( any branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce or State Bank of India)
Application fee for general candidates : Rs. 5000
Application fee for sc candidates : Rs. 2500
Display of Provisional list
Once the process of online filling of application is over, the university will display the provisional list of the candidates on july 16, 2017.
Filling of counselling form and Choice Making
All those candidates who have made up to the provisional list of the university can submit their counselling forms and preferences of college between 17 to 21 july.

Results- July 24
Aspirants will be able to submit their online counselling forms and preferences of colleges and course for the first round of counselling between July 17 and July 21. The result will be displayed on July 24.
The second counselling will be from August 8 to August 13, and the result on August 18.
According to a university official, if candidates make errors while filling the category code, they will be treated as belonging to general category.
Vice-chancellor Dr Raj Bahadur said: “The fact that BFUHS will conduct the combined counselling for all streams and colleges, including private and minority institutions will obviate inconvenience to students and parents.”
