NTPC Recruitment through GATE 2016 : National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited, an Indian Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, Government Of India which deals with generation of electricity and other allied activities has announced the recruitment of Graduate Engineers in multi discipline like electrical, mechanical, electronics, instrumentation ,civil engineering and computer science and information technology. Candidates will be selected based on GATE 2016 results and the shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal Interview and Group Discussion.

Job Profile
It’s a dream come true for many engineers to be enlisted as one of the successful candidates to have come across the NTPC hurdle.
Once the candidates are shortlisted, they will undergo one year of training followed by final place of posting based on performance during training and according to requirements. They can be enlisted to any projects or subsidiary functions of NTPC across India.
Salary
Being an engineer working for NTPC comes with a lot of perks and emoluments .One is offered the best pay packages according to industry standards.
The successful candidates are entitled to a salary of Rs. 24900-3%-50500 at the basic pay of Rs. 24900. After successful completion of their training, the candidates will be absorbed as assistant manager in the pay scale of Rs. 24900-3%-50500 at a basic pay of Rs. 25650/-.
The candidates are entitled to numerous allowances like, dearness allowance, medical benefits, provident fund, gratuity etc. as per company rules.

Basic Cut-off for Applying
The candidates need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology/AMIE with a minimum of 65% marks. The percentage will be calculated as the average of all the years without any due weightage to one particular year. Final year /semester students are also eligible to apply provided they obtain a minimum of 65%.
Eligibility
Any candidate to be eligible for the examination has to be under the age limit of 27 years as on the last date of application in NTPC (29.01.2016). For Candidates belonging to Reserved categories, the relaxation in upper age limit is as following:
- SC/ST – Upper age relaxation- 32 years
- OBC- Upper age relaxation- 30 YEARS (Non Creamy Layer)
- PWD (general)- 37 years
- PWD (OBC)- 40 years
- PWD (SC/ST)- 42 years
- Candidates belonging to the domilcile of Jammu and Kashmir living from 01.01.80 to 31.12.89- 32 years.
- Relaxation for Ex-servicemen (XSM) according to Government of India norms .
A candidate needs to score a minimum of 65% in Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering or Technology/AMIE. In case of SC, ST and PWD candidates, the minimum qualifying percentage is reduced to 55%. Further the candidates have to be declared medically fit by the NTPC medical board and no relaxation will be entertained in terms of health standards.
Selection Process
The candidates will be selected based on their performance in GATE 2016.There will be Group Discussion and Personal Interview for those who have successfully passed the hurdle of aptitude test. A merit list will be prepared after evaluation` of the minimum qualifying marks in GD and Interview.

Result List
The merit list will be prepared after the completion of the Examination procedure and the list will be available at NTPC website. Candidates will have to log in through GOAPs to check their GATE 2016 result. They must enter the Enrolment ID/Email Address and Password to log in. Further the GATE 2016 Score Card can also be downloaded from March 30, 2016 to May 29, 2016 only.
Health and Service Bond Conditions
The candidates are required to be in sound health. NTPC will conduct a medical examination of the successful candidates and their decision will be final in this regard. Moreover no relaxation can be claimed in terms of health standards. The medical norms in detail are available on the website www.ntpccareers.net .
NTPC requires its successful candidates to adhere to its bond conditions serve the company for at least 3 years after completion of the training program of one year. The following are the bond amounts-
- Selected General and OBC candidates- ₹2,50,000/-
- Selected ST, SC, PWD candidates- ₹1,25,000/-
