Power Grid GATE recruitment 2020: The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has invited applications for its 25th batch of executive trainees in electrical discipline. Those who have cleared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will be eligible to apply for the job. The applications for Power Grid will begin from January 15 and close on February 15. Interested candidates will have to apply at the official website, powergridindia.com.
Since the recruitment will be based on GATE score, candidates will also have to appear for the exam. The registration for GATE 2020 will be closing on September 24. It will be conducted by IIT Delhi this year and candidates can apply at gate.iitd.ac.in. The exam will be conducted on February 1, 2, 8 and 9, 2020.
Power Grid PGCIL Recruitment Through GATE 2020 Notification Out, Valid EE Score Required
Candidates who appear in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 Electrical Engineering (EE) paper and get a valid score in it will be eligible to apply for PGCIL recruitment through GATE 2020.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has published the notification for recruitment through GATE 2020. One of the sought after PSUs that are accepting scores of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, Power Grid will fill vacancies in the post of Executive Trainee (Electrical) with fresh engineering graduates.
PGCIL Recruitment Through GATE 2020 is open for candidates who get a valid score in GATE paper EE that is Electrical Engineering subject. The corporation will accept applications only from job seekers with fill time BE or B.Tech or B.Sc Engg degree in any of these disciplines – electrical, electrical (power), electrical and electronics, power systems engineering, power engineering (electrical) – with 70% or more.
The PGCIL will accept queries against the notification via emails sent to et25@powergrid.co.in, with “ET 25 – _____” in the subject line. For example for a technical query the subject may be ET 25 – Technical Issue – subject matter“. For others, mail as “ET 25 – subject matter”. Replace subject matter text with the subject.
Applicants are required to be 18 years or older. The upper cap on age limit is 28 years as on 31.12.2019. Wherein the upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, 10 years for PWD.
Selection Process
There are three components to selection. They are marks obtained in GATE 2020 out of 100, group discussion, and personal interview. First of all, Power Grid will shortlist candidates on the basis of their GATE scores. Then shortlisted candidates will appear for GD and PI.
PGCIL requires candidates to qualify in the interview in order to be empaneled. The qualifying percentage in interview are 40% for unreserved, 30% for OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PWD.
The weightage of each of the factors in selection happens to be 85% for GATE 2020 marks in EE paper, 3% for group discussion, and 12% for interview.
It may be noted that after being shortlisted for GD PI on basis of GATE scores, PGCIL will put the candidates through a psychometric test. Results of the same will be used as an input during the interview.
With regards to salary, the Power Grid recruitment through GATE notification says “The Corporation offers a very attractive pay package and is one of the best in the Industry. Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 60,000 – 1,80,000 during the one-year training period. On successful completion of training, the candidates will be absorbed as Engineer in the same scale”.
Conversion of CGPA to percentage
The conversion of CGPA to percentage should be as per the norms of the college or university where the candidate has studied. If no such rule exists, then the CGPA is calculated by dividing the CGPA by maximum CGPA and multiplying with 100.

Thereafter admit card will be released on January 3, 2020. The result of GATE exam will be announced by March 16, 2020.
