The legal systems of the countries at present can basically be divided into two categories: civil law and common law. (c) S. J. D (Doctor of Judicial Science )
High school graduates cannot apply directly to law school, as they must first undertake the Law School Admission Test, and then one can apply for law school. After three years of studying one is granted J.D. degree. J.D. degree in the United States is the most valuable degree & has been widely recognized. In other countries it can be referred as Bachelor of Laws degree. If you want to gain a firm foothold in the United States, it is best to learn J.D. Studying J. D. also means a huge investment, and law school scholarships for overseas students are limited. International students generally find to learn J.D. hard and under great pressure.
After completing J.D. one can continue their studies, one can pursue LL.M and S.J.D however few Americans continue to read LL.M and S.J.D.

States are organized by the lawyer qualification examination, and if one would like to practice in a state, it is necessary to participate in the examination of the state-sponsored lawyer.
