UGC Fellowship: University Grand Commission will now give fellowship to students every month, due to this big change
The University Grants Commission (UGC) said on Saturday that it would release research fellowship funds to qualified researchers from their respective institutions without making monthly confirmations.
The Commission has stated in its notice that the process of releasing the amount for the month of November has been started and the pending fellowship amount up to October 2020 has been released.

UGC i.e. University Grant Commission has decided to give fellowship and scholarship to students for monthly financial assistance instead of 3-3 months per month. This decision has been taken in view of the economic situation of students arising due to Corona epidemic. Giving the official information on Saturday, UGC Secretary Rajneesh Jain said, “Earlier this scholarship was given to students at intervals of three months, but now it is being sent to the students’ account every month. The amount of scholarship and fellowship till the month of October has been directly transferred to the students’ account. Now preparations are being made to send the amount for the month of November to the students. ”

Earlier, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank took a high-level review meeting on various schemes and programs of the Ministry of Education. It was attended by Education Secretary Amit Khare, School Education Secretary Anita Karwal and senior officials of the Ministry.
Union Minister Pokhriyal directed the UGC to ensure all scholarships. The fellowship should be distributed on time and for this a helpline should be started. He also directed that all complaints of students should be redressed immediately.
Recently, some such complaints came up, which said that due to Kovid-19 epidemic, the scholarship is being delayed. There is more delay in payment under scholarship related schemes. Due to this, students are facing many problems. The central government has rejected such reports.

To this, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, while providing official information, said, “To clarify the situation regarding these facts, it is informed that the Social Justice and Empowerment Department is responsible for Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Notified Tribes, Economic Directly implements various scholarship schemes in collaboration with the State Governments, Union Territory Administration, University Grants Commission for targeted groups such as weaker sections.
