The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates for registration and exam schedule of various competitive exams such as University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-main) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) on Tuesday. And as first reported by TOI earlier this month, the NEET-UG will be “a single exam in pen and paper mode and in the same number of languages as has been conducted in 2018.”
2nd UGC NET Exam in December 2018
National Testing Agency conduct the 2nd UGC NET exam from 9th to 23rd December 2018. According to the schedule for the UGC NET December Test 2018, the online application process start from 1st September 2018 and the last date to fill the application form is 30th September 2018. The Exam dates of UGC NET Dec 2018 is 9th December 2018 to 23 December 2018. There will be two shifts per day on Saturday and Sundays for the 2nd UGC NET exam 2018. The Result of UGC NET December 2018 will be out on 10th January.
NTA announces exam schedule for UGC-NET, JEE-main, NEET-UG, GPAT & CMAT
The UGC-NET December 2018 will be the first exam to be conducted by the NTA from December 9 to 23, 2018, while JEE-main 1 will be conducted from January 6 to 20, 2019 and JEE-main 2 will be from April 6 to 20, 2019.
CMAT and GPAT will also be conducted once a year and they will be single day exam – January 28, 2019. NEET-UG will be held on May 5, 2019.
The NTA has also announced the dates for announcement of the results as well. According to Vineet Joshi, director-general, NTA, “We are also establishing a countrywide network of test practice centres (TPCs) for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. From September 1, 2019 on every Saturday and Sunday 2,697 schools/ engineering colleges with computer centres are being made available and any student can use the facility free of charge. A mobile application is being developed which will enable the students to choose the nearest TPC.”

The government earlier in July 2018 announced a tentative schedule for the exams and also said that the JEE-main and NEET-UG will be conducted twice a year and all the exams will be computer based. However, following request from the ministry of health and family welfare, it was decided that the medical/ dental entrance test will continue to be an annual exam on pen and paper mode with no change in pattern.

The registration process for NEET 2019 will begin from November 1 and the exam will be held on May 5. However, the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) will be held twice a year.
A month after it announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted online and twice a year from 2019, the government on Tuesday rolled back the decision. The exam will now be held in the pen-and-paper mode and not online. Earlier, the Indian Express had reported that the HRD Ministry’s keenness to put off any changes in the NEET’s conduct is influenced by the Health Ministry, which fears an online (read computer-based) test would put students from rural and economically poor families at a disadvantage.

UGC NET Dec 2018 will be conducted in online mode. The paper will be conducted in two sessions first session for the paper I and second session for paper II. UGC NET Dec 2018 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for NET 2019 students should be familiar with the eligibility criteria. It is mandatory that students should follow the eligibility criteria if fails then their candidature will get cancelled at any stage of the admission process. Check the eligibility criteria mentioned by NTA for UGC NET Dec 2018.
Educational Qualification
- The candidate must secure at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Masters Degree or equivalent exam from the UGC recognised Universities / Institutes.
- 50 % marks (without rounding off) for OBC belonging to non-creamy layer / SC / ST / PwD candidate.
- Students pursuing Master Degree or those who have appeared for the final exam in qualifying master Degree or waiting for the result can apply for the exam. These students will be admitted provisionally and they will be eligible for JRF / eligibility for Assistant Professor only after qualifying the Master’s Degree r equivalent exam with 50 % marks for OBC (Non-Creamy layer / SC/ ST/ PwD) and 55% for general candidates. They must complete the master degree within the 2 years of declaration of UGC NET 2018 result.
- The transgender candidate is eligible for relaxation in age, fee and qualifying criteria is similar to SC / ST / PwD categories.
- The PhD candidate whose Master level exam was completed by 19th September 1991 will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.
- Candidate should appear for the NET exam for the subject they have completed their graduation. If the subject is not available in the list then select the paper similar to it.
Age Criteria:
For Junior Research Fellowship:
- Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 30 years as on 1st January 2018.
- Relaxation: 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, transgender and PwD category candidates. Relaxation will also be given to the candidates having research experience. Candidates possessing LL.M. degree will be eligible for 3 years relaxation in age.
Aadaar Card:
In reference to notification for UGC-NET(November) 2017 published in the news papers regarding schedule of filling online application for the said examination, following is being informed:
- The use of Aadhaar for the applicants of UGC-NET(November) 2017 will result in accuracy of the applicants’ details. This will also help in ascertaining identities of the applicants at the examination centres in a convenient and hassle free manner. Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove one’s identity.
- The provisions of the Aadhaar Act and Regulations under the Act have come into effect from 14th September 2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act 2016 permits the use of Aadhaar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant to any law or any contract to this effect.
- Accordingly, CBSE has decided to use Aadhaar for the applicants of UGCNET(November) 2017, and hereby notifies the following:
- Applicants who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in online application for UGC-NET(November) 2017 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof.
- Applicants not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per section 3 of Aadhaar Act. Such applicant may visit any Aadhaar enrolment center (list available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar.
- The above provisions shall be applicable in all states except J&K, Assam & Meghalaya.
- The applicants from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.
For Assistant Professor:
- Age Limit: No prescribed upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
UGC NET Dec 2018 Application Form
NTA will release the application form for NET 2019 on the official website. Before filling the application form candidate must check the eligibility criteria. The application form will be available in online mode. Students have to fill UGC NET Dec 2018 application form within the prescribed time. The online submission of application will commence from September 01, 2018. The documents to be attached with the application form should be in the prescribed format and size.
The fee for the application is Rs.250/- for SC / ST / PwD / Transgender. The candidate belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) has to pay Rs.500 and Rs.1000/- is for other categories. NTA UGC NET Dec 2018 Admit Card
The NTA UGC NET 2018 admit card will be released three weeks before the exam. Candidates can download it from the official website http://nta.ac.in using their application number and password. Take a print out and carry the admit card to the exam centre with valid ID proof. Admit Card is mandatory for making entry to the examination venue.
Steps to Download NTA UGC NET Admit Card
Candidates who have successfully registered for the UGC NET exam can download the admit card through these steps:
- Go to the official NTA UGC NET website.
- Click on the link to download admit card on the home-page.
- Log-in with your Application number and password. If you have forgotten your log-in details, recover them through your registered email id or SMS.
- Your e-admit card will appear on the screen.
- Download it and take a print out for future reference.
Please note that NTA doesn’t send hard copy of the UGC NET admit card to candidates under any circumstances. It can only be downloaded from the official website through online mode.

Kindly check all the details printed on your admit card. If you find any discrepancies, inform the exam conducting authority (earlier CBSE now NTA) at the earliest to get them rectified.
UGC NET Dec 2018 Answer Key
NTA will release the answer key after few days of the commencement of exam. The answer key will release on the official website of NTA. Students can use UGC NET Dec 2018 Answer Key to verify the answer attempted by them during the exam and even find the rough marks obtained for the attempted question. To check the answer key students should be aware with the marking scheme of UGC NET Dec 2018. UGC NET Dec 2018 Result
NTA will release the result for UGC NET Dec 2018 on the official website. As per the official notification, the result will release in last week of January 2019. To check the result the students have to provide their enrollment number and date of birth (if required). Students can check the marks obtained in each paper along with the total marks and percentage. The qualifying students have to appear for the counselling along with the necessary documents.
