CBSE UGC NET Jan 2017 Result – Check Result and Cut Off
LATEST UPDATE: As reported by TOI, The CBSE UGC NET JAN Result was scheduled to release on May 11th Evening. It was actually scheduled to release on 10th May, But due to some technical glitch, there is a delay and some unofficial news that it may get postponed. So it is postponed and hopefully, the result will be declared anytime soon today.
The CBSE UGC NET Exam has been successfully conducted on 22nd January 2017. The candidates who have appeared in the exam must be seeking for the UGC NET Results and Cutoff Marks Updates.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the National Eligility Test (NET) for January 2017 on January 22, 2017, on behalf of the University Grants Commission. The UGC CBSE NET 2017 was divided into three sections viz. viz. Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III. Below is the Expected cut-off for CBSE NET 2017 for all subjects. (Note-Cut offs are in Percentages)
What is UGC NET 2017 Cut off and how to calculate it?
The examination authority CBSE decides UGC NET cut off 2017 in two ways. At first, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of qualifying marks (category wise) followed by preparation of merit list as per the scored marks. Based on UGC NET cut off 2017, only top 15% candidates selected for Assistant/Associate Professorship. And, for awarding JRF examination authority selects certain number of candidates having high rank in Assistant/Associate Professorship. The detail procedure regarding how to calculate UGC NET 2017 cut off score is given below.
Step I – UGC NET Qualifying marks
Candidates have to secure qualifying marks in all the three papers of UGC NET in order to get shortlisted for JRF or Assistant Professorship. The UGC NET qualifying marks for General category candidates is 40% in Paper I & II and 50% marks in Paper III respectively. While the qualifying marks for reserve category candidates is 35% in Paper I & II and 40% in Paper III. The result of only those candidates will be processed who will secure UGC NET 2017 cut off score in all three papers. The table below shows category wise UGC NET 2017 qualifying marks.

Step II –Merit list based on UGC NET Cut off 2017
A separate merit list will be prepared for candidates who have scored qualifying marks in each paper of UGC NET. Based on the marks secured CBSE will prepare subject -wise and category-wise merit list.
Step III – Assistant Professor Merit list based on UGC NET Cut off 2017
The examination authority will shortlists top 15% candidates in each subject to prepare merit list for deciding the eligibility of Assistant Professor. The score and rank of last candidates under top 15% criteria will become the UGC NET cut off for Assistant Professor. Every year the cut off score varies as it depends on difficulty of examination.
Step IV – UGC NET 2017 Cut off for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
The examination authority selects certain number from top 15% UGC NET qualified candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) after considering their eligibility in terms of age. According to eligibility criteria for JRF, the upper age limit for general category candidates is 28 years. The upper age limit is 33 years for reserved category candidates.

What Next After UGC NET Result 2017 Declarartion?
- After qualifying the CBSE UGC NET you can apply for posts of assistant professor in higher level educational institutions. You will be eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation
- Universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations select the JRF candidates for research programs as per the procedure prescribed by selection council
- Applicants who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be appointed as per the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/ colleges/state governments
