CBSE Releases UGC NET 2018 Answer key, result likely on July 31
This was the last UGC NET exam conducted by the CBSE, from December 2018, the exam will be conducted by National Testing Agency
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released answer key and question papers of the Unversity Grant Commission (UGC) NET exam 2018 on its official website cbsenet.nic.in . The exam was took place on Sunday, July 8 and the re-exam on July 22 . According to Times of India, the result of UGC NET likely to be out on July 31, 2018.
The re-exam was conducted at Allahabad centre in which around 600 candidates appeared.
Candidates can now check the question papers and verify the answers, besides the candidates can make objection on the recorded answers till July 27 by submitting documents in support of challenge of answer key by mailing it on net@cbse.gov.in.

How to Download UGC NET Answer Key 2018
Students can download the answer key by following the steps given below:
- Visit the NET 2018 official website, which is cbsenet.nic.in and Click on the ‘View-Challenge Answer Key and Recorded Response on OMR Sheet’ button appearing on the screen.
- After Clicking on this button, on the Answer Key Page, enter the Application Number and Password to download the UGC NET Answer Key.
- On clicking on the Login Button, your account information appears on the screen
- Choose the ‘View Answer Keys‘ option to get the official UGC NET Answer Key.
- Select the suitable option and download the answer key.
A total number of 11,48,235 candidates — largest number so far — were registered for UGC NET July examination.
CBSE had made arrangements for 2082 examination centres across the country and a total number of 2864 observers and 675 Board officials were deputed on these centres to oversee the smooth and fair conduct of examination.
As per the UGC policy, the 6% of the candidates appeared in both the papers who obtain minimum qualifying marks in aggregate of both papers will be declared NET qualified. The certificates to the qualified candidates will be issued by UGC.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will release UGC NET 2018 answer keys in the fourth week of August. However, once released, all candidates who are not satisfied with the answer(s) in the key can challenge by filling an online application form present on the official website of CBSE. It may be noted that along with filling the online form candidates also have to pay a fee of Rs 1,000 per question. Regarding the same, the official website informs, “In case the challenge of any candidate regarding captured images of response sheets (OMR sheets)/ answer keys is accepted, the fee will be refunded to such candidates against the accepted challenge. In all other cases the fee once paid will not be refunded.”
Candidates can pay the challenge fee in online mode via debit card/ credit card/ e-challan.
Once challenges are received, CBSE looks into them to determine if any change in response is required in the challenged answer and thereafter releases final answer keys. Finally, on the basis of the final answer keys, UGC NET result is prepared for different papers and candidates are chosen for the post of Assistant Professor and/ or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
UGC NET 2018 Answer Key
After the completion of UGC NET examination, UGC NET provisional answer keys for all subjects are released on the official website. As per the official NEET 2018 information brochure, scanned images of candidates’ response sheets (OMR sheets) along with provisional answer keys will be uploaded on the official website during the fourth week of August 2018.
UGC NET 2018 Answer Key – Steps to Challenge the Answer Key and Responses
Candidates can raise a challenge against the provisional answer key by filling an online form and paying a sum of ₹ 1000 per question. Payment can be done through online mode only. If the challenge raised by the candidate is accepted, the fee will be refunded to the account from which the payment is done. The official notification states, “The CBSE’s decision on the challenges shall be final and the result will be declared on the basis of final answer keys.”

Steps to View and Challenge the UGC NET 2018 Answer Key
- Visit the official CBSE NET website – https://cbsenet.nic.in/
- Click on the link “View-Challenge Answer Key and Recorded Response on OMR Sheet”on the home page.
- You will be redirected to candidate’s login window.
- Log-in using your Id and password.
- You will see options to challenge answer keys or your response. Select as per your requirement. The option to view the images of your response sheets will also be available.
- If you want to raise more than one objection, add all in one go. You won’t be able to do edit the challenge once submitted.
- After submitting the challenge, you will be redirected to the fee payment page.
- Pay the prescribed amount through online mode of payment. Please note that additional processing fee will be borne by the candidate. If your challenge is accepted by the board, the fee will be refunded to the same account through which payment has been made.
- Before making payment, check your name, roll number, and fee amount carefully.
UGC NET 2018 Answer key

CBSE will conduct NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected NET Examination Cities spread across the country. The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor or both only will depend on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET.
UGC NET 2018 Result
After considering the challenges/objections raised by the candidates, a final answer key will be uploaded by the board. The UGC NET 2018 result will be prepared on the basis of the final answer key. As per the official notification, the board will not entertain any grievances related to answer key after result declaration.
