DU admissions 2016: University to announce three more cut-offs
Delhi University will release three more cutoff lists for admission to undergraduate courses on August 20, 24 and 29. Admissions will be conducted till August 22, 26 and 30, respectively.
With seats still remaining vacant, Delhi University declared that it will release three more cut-offs for admission to undergraduate courses for the commencing academic session 2016-17. The university had already announced five cut-off lists.
Post the fifth cutoff list, the university had taken a new route of inviting fresh applications for candidates who had already applied through the online route. This second phase took nearly two weeks to complete, during which the colleges issued five merit lists.
But with August 31 being the new deadline for admissions to end, “more candidates are likely to take admission through cutoff lists. We can issue three cutoffs during this time,” said J M Khurana, dean of students’ welfare.
When the cut-off lists will be declared
- The university will release its sixth cut off list on Saturday, August 20. The admission process for the sixth cut off list will be conducted till August 22
- The university will declare the seventh cut-off lists on August 24 and the admissions will be conducted till August 26. The eight cut-off list will come on August 29 and admissions under this cut-off will be completed on August 30.
The online admission process at Delhi University started from June 1 this year. More than 2.5 lakh hopefuls had applied this year to DU seeking admission under its various courses. The maximum number of applications (1,15,786) have been received for BA (honours) English course this year, followed by BA programme with over 98,000 applications and BA (honours) Political Science too crossing the 90,000 mark.
