Delhi University 2019 First Cutoff Expected to be High this Year.
56000 seats in Delhi University, 72,599 candidates scored 90% percent and above and 17,600 candidates scored 95% percent or above, this means this year DU Cut off 2019 will be mayhem. If the number of students with 95 percent and above has increased then colleges will keep a higher cutoff,” Admission Times expects the DU First cut off to be around 99-99.5% for the popular courses like B.Com(H), Eco(H). DU Second cut off this year also looks distant and seems most of the seats would get filled up as general category has less seats as well around 20,580.
LATEST NEWS : Shri Ram College Of Commerce (SRCC) Releases First Cut Off List
Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) has released the first cut off list for admission to undergraduate courses for the year 2018-2019. The cut off for B.A. (Hons.) Economics is 98.50% and for B.Com. (Hons.) it is 97.75%. The cut off has increased by 0.75% for B.A. (Hons.) Economics than it was last year. The cut off for B.Com. (Hons.) is same as it was in 2017. The cut off has been decided on the basis of the average percentage in best four subjects.
Last year the first cut off list was released on June 19, 2018. The first cut off list of SRCC always grabs the headlines because of its popularity and the high cut offs. In 2011 the cut off was 100 per cent. In 2016, the B.Com. (H) was 98% and the cut off for BA Economics was 98.25%.
The university has declared that, this time around, there will be only five cutoff lists. There will be a centralised counselling list after the fifth one is declared, where the university will try to fill the vacant seats.
DU has also decided to share the cutoffs of various colleges with principals, allowing them to make changes to their respective lists after analysing the trends. But officials at Kirori Mal College said the data were yet to be shared as many colleges hadn’t released a tentative list on account of the Eid holiday. The colleges have till 6pm on Monday to assess the data.
St Stephen’s cut-off released, Economics (Hons) has the highest cut-off at 98.75 per cent
Anju Srivastava, principal of Hindu College, said that while colleges were yet to come out with tentative lists, it was safe to say that the cutoffs would be higher than last year. Jaswinder Singh, principal of SGTB Khalsa College, told TOI that they would analyse the data soon, “but the cutoffs may be marginally higher than last year”.
Singh added that the competition was stiffer this year in arts and commerce streams. Khalsa saw high cutoffs in its first list last year too — 99% in BA (Hons) political science, 98.75% in English, 98.25% in economics and 98% for chemistry, physics, computer science and BCom (Hons).
“Most colleges come out with very high cutoffs in the first list as they want to assess the demand for their courses. By the second list, however, the cutoffs are lowered, albeit marginally. This is done to avoid over-admission and to get the best of the lot. But usually subjects like English and BA programme will have higher cutoffs as the number of applications is high,” a DU official said.
The long drawn admission procedure to the premier university of the country might be in for a major change as the University of Delhi (DU) is planning to drastically decrease the number of cut-off lists for admission to its three-year undergraduate courses from the academic session of 2018-19. With over 2.77 lakh applicants vying for 56,000 seats in as many as 64 affiliated colleges, does this mean relief from the tardy and distressing process of admission to DU?
