Delhi University will release the list of shortlisted candidates for extracurricular activities (ECA) final trials on Thursday. The preliminary trials for admission under ECA categories were concluded on Wednesday. The final trials will be conducted from Friday .
Although the trial period is from July 15 to 18 for different categories, the schedule may change or shorten as the num ber of candidates is far less than anticipated.
Over 11,000 applicants registered for admission under the ECA category. The ECA and sports category combined have 5% supernumerary seats reserved. “However, a little over 3,000 candidates came for the preliminary trials and the number will be even less in the final list.
Delhi University Releases Schedule for ECA Admissions
A tentative schedule was released by Delhi University for ECA admissions. The same was announced on Friday, July 1, 2016. However, the site remained down for most of the time then. There is no particular note on definite schedule and colleges where the trial will be held.

The Indian classical dance trials scheduled for July 7 will be held on July 10 on account of Ramzan Colleges will release the final list of selected candidates will be displayed on July 19. On July 20 and 21, selected students have to go to their preferred college and get their documents verified. On July 22, the colleges will release the final list of selected candidates and students can get their admission.
University issued the admission schedule for extracurricular activities (ECA) category on Saturday night. The dates were supposed to be issued on June 30. The present schedule is “tentative“, with a rider saying, “the university reserves the right to changemodify this tentative schedule without assigning any reason“.The preliminary trials as per the schedule are to commence from July 7 and continue till July 13. The university reserves 5% seats (supernumerary) for aspirants seeking admissions under sports and ECA. The sports trials concluded on July 2.
Like the sports category admissions, the ECA trials will be conducted by colleges discipline wise. For example, theatre is supposed to be conducted by a select colleges and creative writing by another colleges. However, the schedule is yet to notify the identified colleges or the time of the trials. The university’s official site continued to remain down most of the time.
There will be two sets of trials–preliminary and final.Shortlisting will be based on the final trials scheduled from July 15 to July 18. All candida tes must appear at the preliminary trials as well. However, no aspirant will be denied participation in the final trials irrespective of higher performance in the preliminaries. A minimum of 50% marks in the final trials is required to be eligible for admission. DU has already issued the list of approved ECA activities in the information bulletin.
But simply participating in the trials and getting the minimum marks will not ensure an aspirant’s name in the merit list. As per the guidelines, “the merit list will be prepared only for the candidates who have registered online on DU portal for concerned colleges and have reported in person for counselling and verification of original certificates at concerned colleges during the specified date and time.“ The university has issued the dates for counselling and verification, starting on July 20 and 21 at individual colleges chosen by candidates in the application.
There will be three such counselling and verification process. Following each, a merit list will be prepared for admission. In case of seats remain unfilled even after this process, the colleges with vacant seats will continue with the admission process like the first three lists.

- Notification of first admission list – 10am on July 22
- SECOND COUNSELLING & VERIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS – July 26 & 27
- Notification of Second admission list – 10am on July 28
- THIRD COUNSELLING & VERIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS – August 1 & 2
- Notification of Third admission list – 10am on August 3
- List of shortlisted candidates along with the marks awarded for their certificates will be displayed on the DU website
- DU will conduct ECArelated grievance redressal via email
- Final list of selected candidates will be published on the DU website
