RRB NTPC 2nd Stage: Check Exam Pattern and Syllabus

RRB NTPC exam 2016: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will conduct the second stage of the Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) recruitment exam from January 17 onwards in various cities across the country.
The Board has recently released the RRB NTPC 2016 results on the official websites of all 21 zones. The last date to check the result is December 23. As many as 54 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam out of which, about three lakh aspirants have cleared the first stage exam.
RRB NTPC Stage 2 Exam Pattern & Timing
The exam will be held in three shifts on January 17, 18 and 19, 2017. The call letters will be released two weeks before the date of examination (CBT) on the official website of the RRB applied for. The E-call letters which will be available indicated the date, shift, reporting time, test centre and city etc. for 2nd stage CBT will be uploaded two weeks before the date of examination (CBT) for the website of the RRB. Candidates will be advised through website/SMS/e-mail to download their e-call letters to appear in the 2nd stage CBT. The admit cards for RRB NTPC 2nd Stage will be available from January 3, 2017.
Aspirants who will be appearing for the RRB NTPC stage 2 from January 17 to January 19 should prepare for General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning. Each section will be of 40 marks and the duration of the exam is 90- minutes. There will be a total of 120 questions. This year the final selection of candidates will be based on merit position obtained in the 2nd stage CBT or result of Aptitude Test/Typing Skill Test wherever it is applicable. The normalization of marks will be done as per the extant rules in 1st and 2nd stage CBT.
Exam time: The duration of the second stage NTPC exam will be 90 minutes. The first shift will start at 7:30 am, second shift at 11 am and the last shift will begin at 2: 30 pm.
The first stage of RRB NTPC CEN 03/15 was a online computer based tests which had 100 questions. Aspirants were awarded marks are awarded in accordance with the marking scheme. The RRB NTPC CEN 3/2015 exam carries negative marking and hence for every incorrect answer, 1/3rd of the marks assigned to the question is deducted. The overall performance of candidate is judged by his / her score obtained in the RRB NTPC recruitment exam. The successful candidates will be called for Goods Guard, CA, TA, ECRC. For others, DV will be done after typing skill test only for Sr Clerk cum typist, Sr Time Keeper, and JAA), and Aptitude Test (only for ASM, and Traffic Assistant).
Railway Recruitment Boards have uploaded an important notice regarding the RRB NTPC Answer Key and RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) for the recruitment of 18000 NTPC (non technical) vacancies .
Indian Railways through Railway Recruitment Boards is planning to introduce a 2nd level exam as part of the RRB NTPC 2016 exam.They had recently conducted the worlds largest online exam for 18000 vacancies for which nearly 92 lakh candidates had submitted applications.With large number of applicants in the race, RRBs have decided to hold a main examination – the RRB NTPC 2nd stage exam pattern, marks & sections of which were revealed recently.
From March – May 2016, the 1st stage written exams were conducted at 1000s of centres across India by various railways boards for non-technical cadre (NTPC) jobs.
Now new details have emerged related to the 2nd stage of RRB NTPC exam, that we may call as mains.
In the Detailed Notification of RRB’s, They Have Highlighted the Following Points : –
1. Objections were invited from the candidates on questions/answer keys from 12.08.2016 to 21.08.2016. After consideration of these objections the Question Papers (indicating finally deleted questions, if any), updated final Answer Keys & Candidates Response shall again be made available on RRBs website in September/October 2016.
2. RRBs will hold a 2nd stage Computer Based Test (CBT) for various NTPC (Graduate) category posts, & candidates equal to 15 times of vacancies shall be called for 2nd stage CBT based on the merit position in the CBT held during 28/03/2016 to 03/05/2016 (hereinafter called 1st Stage CBT).
3. The Final selection of candidates will be based on merit position obtained in the 2nd stage CBT and/or result of Aptitude Test/Typing Skill Test wherever applicable.
4. Normalization of marks will be done in 1st and 2nd stage CBT.
RRB NTPC Main Exam Pattern
The 2nd stage test will also be an online exam with the following sections:
- General Awareness
- Arithmetic
- General Intelligence &
- Reasoning
A total of 120 objective questions need to be answered within 90 minutes.
What is interesting about this 2nd stage pattern is, the papers are same as of 1st exam.The only difference is the increase in number of questions from 100 to 120.
Final Merit List: Your marks in main exam (2nd stage test) would be considered for final selection, along with the results of aptitude/ skill test.
It means, the 1st exam is for qualifying purposes only.Whatever marks you score in it wont matter.
RRB NTPC Results: When?
Nearly 3 months have passed after the RRB NTPC exams in May got over.The answer keys were also released only recently inviting candidates to raise objections on any wrong choices/ questions.
The updated & final answer keys shall be made available again on RRBs website in September/October 2016.
So only after all these processes are complete, the RRB NTPC exam results may be declared in November 2016.
When is the RRB NTPC 2nd stage exam?
The exact dates are not announced yet.Since it will held after the results of 1st stage exam is out, we can expect it in December 2016 or January/ February 2017.
How many candidates will qualify for 2nd stage test?
RRBs in their latest notice mention about shortlisting candidates equal to 15 times of vacancies.
We can assume that approximately 2.8 – 3 lakh candidates may qualify in the exams held during March 28 to May 3, 2016.
