More than one lakh applications received for 6,706 seats at Jamia
Will you get a seat in Jamia Millia Islamia University. There is turmoil to get into one of the prestigious university to attend . This year Jamia University has received 1,37,156 applications for 6,706 seats across undergraduate, postgraduate, certificates and diploma courses. Every year the competition is getting tough and on an average a little over 20 candidates are competing for each seat in this university.
There is a serious urgency to open up new universities because this is unhealthy competition. For few courses like BDS 124 candidates fighting for one seat.
Important Notification regarding BDS Entrance Test & NEET Examination
Some of the popular undergraduate courses have seen an increase in applications. For BA (Hons) English, there are 46 applicants vying for every single seat, while for mass media (Hindi), hotel management, tourism and history , for every single seat, there are 34 candidates. For BA (hons) economics, BBA and BCom (Hons) the competition gets stiffer with 70 candidates for one seat.
The entrance test for BA (hons) economics, BBA and BCom (hons) is scheduled for May 31, while BA (hons) English, mass media (Hindi) and history , among others will be conducted on June 1. Entrance test for political science, geography , sociology and psychology is on June 2.
The university has also announced the schedule for admission under sports category in undergraduate and post graduate courses. The admission under this category is limited to athletics, badminton, boxing, cricket, football, hockey , shooting, table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball and wrestling. The last date for collection of application form is June 20 and last date for submission is June 28.
